What art means to me:
I want my paintings to be beautiful and to create a sense of calmness and enjoyment. Also, I want to leave the viewer with some questions such as, “Where is that boat going?” or “What are they talking about?” Something to think about – a story to tell. Enjoy!
Biography
I was born and raised in Dermott, Arkansas, attended the University of Arkansas, graduating with a degree in Business Education. After graduation, I moved to Houston, Texas where I was first introduced to an art class through Houston Independent School System. A career in business soon replaced the painting until quite a few years later – after marriage and children—when I was reintroduced to an art class at the Arkansas Arts Center. The rest is history. I’ve been painting ever since.
Workshops and private study are the avenues I’ve pursued including painting with Maggie Price, Albert Handell, George Strickland, Barry Thomas, Pat Matthews, Susie Patton, Endia Gomez and Stephen Cefalo.
I have participated in the following shows and sales:
- Thea Foundation – North Little Rock, Arkansas
- Garven Gardens – Hot Springs, Arkansas
- South Arkansas Art Center – El Dorado, Arkansas
- Arkansas Arts Center – Little Rock, Arkansas
- Tribriz – Little Rock, Arkansas
- “Reflections in Pastel”, a national juried exhibit hosted by the Arkansas Pastel Society and juried by Albert Handell.
My work is presently shown at Local Colour Galley, Little Rock, Arkansas.
