I have painted all my life but only with a vengeance for the past ten years. The use of beautiful, rich colors is what draws me to a painting. I try to use very deliberate brush strokes with luscious and sometimes unexpected colors.
Although I paint numerous genres of subject matter, I am most often drawn to the natural landscape. I love having the opportunity to paint plein air but when that’s not possible or feasible, I spend time in my home studio where I am surrounded by some of my own art as well as paintings and my many art books that I have collected over the years.
I just recently had the opportunity to pursue a long-time dream, to paint in France. I spent 2 weeks in Provence in the same area where the Impressionists marveled at the magnificent light and shadows that made the area so intriguing to artists for years to come.
In March and April, 2010, I had ten paintings featured in a solo exhibit at the Arkansas State Capitol.
