Boots Barnett Warrick began painting after 9/11. This was an “unsure” time for many of us. She found security at home with her canvas and paintbrush.
In 2002, she gathered artists from the local community and opened Local Colour Gallery, an artists co-op, where she has her work today on display. Local Colour has been open for 9 years.
She paints Arkansas scenes, animals, nature, landscape and still-life. Whimsical subjects appeal to her the most. She paints from her mood and never knows what will inspire her.
She has taken many workshops all over the United States. Her workshops include Barry Thomas, George Strickland, Scott Christensen, Robert Moore, and Guido Frick, a German impressionist, with whom she has studied both here in the United States and in Europe.
After Boots was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, she held her first one woman show in 2007, “Coming out of the Scarf” benefiting Little Rock Oncology-Hematology Angel Foundation for cancer patients with financial needs. 100% of the proceeds from her art sales were donated to cancer patients.
Painting is a passion for Boots and she hopes that those that view or purchase her work find lasting enjoyment from it.
